AIS Vessel Photo Contribution Agreement

Effective: August 2, 2026

Thank you for helping improve the shared Saillogger and AIS Fleet vessel catalog. This agreement applies when you use the Add vessel photo flow on Saillogger or AIS Fleet. It is between you and Saillogger LLC. AIS Fleet is not a separate company.

1. Which photos this covers

This agreement covers only photos submitted through an Add vessel photo flow for the AIS vessel catalog. It does not cover a Saillogger boat profile photo, or a photo added to a log, trip, monitoring history, moorage, stay, or message. Saillogger will not repurpose those other photos for the AIS catalog, marketing, datasets, partner integrations, or AI model training.

2. Ownership and permission to contribute

Submitting a photo does not transfer its copyright. If you own it, you keep the copyright and may continue using or licensing it. If someone else owns it, they keep the copyright.

Please submit only a photo you own or have the copyright owner’s permission to contribute on these terms. You confirm that Saillogger’s permitted use will not violate another person’s copyright, privacy, publicity, or other rights. Owning the vessel or appearing in the photo does not necessarily mean you own the photo.

3. The permission you give Saillogger

By submitting the photo, you give Saillogger LLC worldwide permission, without a fee, to host, copy, crop, resize, format, annotate, analyze, display, distribute, and create derived works or data from it. This permission is non-exclusive, so you and the copyright owner remain free to use and license the photo too.

Saillogger may use the photo to operate, improve, and promote its services and vessel catalog. It may also use it in commercial vessel-data products, datasets, partner integrations, and to develop, train, test, and improve artificial-intelligence, machine-learning, computer-vision, and similar systems.

Saillogger may let its service providers and partners use the photo for those purposes, and may transfer this permission with the relevant service or business. In legal terms, the permission is transferable and sublicensable. Saillogger will not offer the individual photo as standalone stock photography, or license it for another company’s unrelated editorial or advertising use, without separate permission.

4. When the permission becomes permanent

While the photo is waiting for review, you may delete it from your Photos page or ask us to withdraw it at [email protected]. If Saillogger accepts it into the catalog, the permission becomes permanent and irrevocable to the fullest extent allowed by law. It continues if the photo is later removed from public view or you close your account.

Saillogger does not have to accept, use, or keep displaying a photo. Removing a photo does not undo datasets, models, derived data, or other work already created from it.

5. Credit and photo metadata

If you provide a photographer name, Saillogger may show it with the photo. We try to provide credit where the product or format supports it, but cannot promise credit with every use.

A photo file may contain its capture time and precise GPS location. If you include a name, capture time, or location, you give Saillogger the same permission to use, share, and sublicense it with the photo and derived data for the purposes above.

The upload form lets you keep the extracted location out of the catalog and public display. The original image file may still contain that location or other metadata. Remove metadata from the file before uploading if you do not want Saillogger to store it.

This agreement gives rights to Saillogger and its permitted providers and partners. It does not give the general public permission to copy the photo.

6. Version and contact

The version shown when you submit a photo governs that photo. A later version applies only to later submissions. This version remains available at /vessel-photo-contribution-agreement/2026-08-02/.

This agreement supplements the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy for the service where you submit the photo. If they conflict about a contributed AIS vessel photo, this agreement controls. Questions are welcome at [email protected].
