Saillogger Public Fleet FAQ

Public fleets let clubs, races, rallies, flotillas, and boating groups share participating boats on one live Saillogger map.

Saillogger does much more than fleets. It is one of the most complete automatic marine logging and tracking tools for boaters, with trip logs, live monitoring, stats, timelapse, sharing, and remote tracking in one place. Learn more on the Saillogger home page or read the Support and FAQ.

A fleet is a group of boats shown together on one Saillogger map. Fleets are useful for yacht clubs, boating clubs, rallies, flotillas, informal cruising groups, and event pages where people want one shared view of participating boats.

A fleet can be public or private. Public fleets can be viewed by anyone with the link.

Fleets work well for club cruises, weekend raft-ups, rallies, flotillas, charter groups, and friends boating together.

For races, a public fleet can be a simple spectator map for boats that choose to participate. It is not an official race timing, scoring, or safety system.

Yes. Visitors can view a public fleet without logging in, but creating and managing a fleet requires a Saillogger account.

After creating an account, create a fleet, choose whether it should be public or private, add boats by MMSI, and share the fleet link.

Create an account or create a fleet.

Fleet owners add boats by MMSI from the fleet management page.

If the MMSI belongs to a Saillogger boat, that boat must have public profile and public monitoring enabled, must not be password protected, and must be active. This keeps a fleet owner from exposing another boater's live position unless that boater has chosen to make it public.

If the MMSI does not belong to a Saillogger boat, Saillogger can show it as an AIS vessel when AIS data is available.

No. A fleet can include both Saillogger boats and AIS vessels.

Saillogger boats can provide richer monitoring and track details when their owners make monitoring public. AIS vessels can still appear on the fleet map by MMSI when AIS data is available.
