An AI assistant connected to your Saillogger account can answer questions about your boat and your travels in plain language. For example:
- "Where is my boat right now?"
- "How far did we travel this season, and which was our longest trip?"
- "Where did we stay in July, and for how many nights?"
- "When was the engine last serviced?"
The assistant reads the same data the Saillogger app shows you, apart from photos. It cannot change anything, and it cannot read your messages or payment details.
What an assistant can read
- Your name and your boats: where they are and their latest sensor data
- Your logbook: trips, routes, statistics and badges
- The places you have stayed and your journal
- Your maintenance records, your notifications and the notes you have written
- The boats you follow and the fleets you run or belong to, as you see them in Saillogger
- Public AIS information about other vessels, such as a name, position and recent track
Your Sharing settings do not limit a connected assistant: it reads your own boat even when your pages are private. A Saillogger boat you follow appears only as far as her owner's sharing settings allow, and other vessels appear with what their AIS broadcasts show.
Connect an assistant
The address to give your assistant is:
https://saillogger.com/mcp
- In your assistant's settings, add Saillogger with the address above. Claude calls this a custom connector; other assistants use other names, and their help pages show where to add one.
- The assistant opens a Saillogger page. Sign in if you are asked to.
- Check the account you are signed in as, the name of the app and where access goes: claude.ai for Claude, chatgpt.com for ChatGPT. If anything is not what you expect, press Cancel. Otherwise, press Allow access.
To test the connection, ask the assistant a question about your boat.
If the assistant asks you to sign in again after a connection interruption, reconnect Saillogger from the assistant's settings.
Disconnect
To end a connection from Saillogger, open Settings > Account (saillogger.com/app/settings/account) and, under Connected apps, press Disconnect next to the assistant, then Disconnect again to confirm. From then on the assistant cannot read your data. What it has already read stays in your conversations with it.
On the classic site, Settings > General has a Manage connected apps button that opens the same list.
While your subscription is paused, Connected apps appears on the settings page. Press Disconnect next to the assistant and confirm. You can do this without resuming your subscription.
Removing Saillogger in the assistant itself may leave it listed under Connected apps. Press Disconnect there to end it in Saillogger too.
Things to know
- The connection is read-only. To change anything, use Saillogger.
- While your subscription is on a seasonal pause, a connected assistant cannot read your data. Your data is kept in full, and the assistant can read it again once you resume.
- Saillogger sends nothing to an assistant on its own: the assistant reads what it needs to answer you, from the list above, while it is connected. Whether it keeps your conversations, or uses them to improve its service, depends on its own settings and privacy policy.
