This is a concise public product overview. Use the user guide for current instructions rather than inferring product behavior from this summary: - Guide index for assistants: https://saillogger.com/docs/llms.txt - Complete guide as Markdown: https://saillogger.com/docs/all.md - Guide home: https://saillogger.com/docs/ , FAQ: https://saillogger.com/docs/faq.md ## Connect an AI assistant (MCP quick start) - MCP (Model Context Protocol) server: https://saillogger.com/mcp - Account: sign in with your Saillogger account. While your subscription is on a seasonal pause, a connected assistant cannot read your data. - Access: reads data, including boat status, sensor readings, logbook, statistics and maintenance records; changes only what the owner allows for that connection (sensor settings, alert settings). 1. In your assistant's settings, add a connector using the server address above. 2. Sign in on the Saillogger page, review the app and account, and choose Allow access (OAuth). 3. Ask a question such as "Where is my boat right now?" Full setup, available data and disconnect instructions: https://saillogger.com/docs/ai-assistants.md ## What Saillogger does - Detects and records trips automatically from positions reported by the boat. - Records routes, distance, duration, speed, wind, moorages and stays when the necessary readings are available. - Shows live position and instrument readings while the boat is online. - Builds statistics, a journal and timelapses from the boater's records. - Supports notes and photos attached to a trip or stay. - Sends optional e-mail and phone notifications for trips, boat status, monitoring alerts, friends and messages. - Lets the owner publish selected boat pages, optionally behind a separate access password. - Updates the boat's position on NoForeignLand (https://www.noforeignland.com) about once an hour, once the boater saves a NoForeignLand API Key in Settings > Integrations. ## Supported connection choices Use one connection choice at a time: - A PredictWind tracking link provides position-based trip logging. - A Victron GX device connected to NMEA 2000 provides trip logging and available instrument monitoring. - The Saillogger plugin on another Signal K server provides trip logging and available instrument monitoring. Setup instructions: https://saillogger.com/docs/connect-your-boat.md A current GPS position is required for both logging and monitoring. Trip logging can tolerate an intermittent Internet connection because the device can keep data waiting to upload. The boater should reconnect periodically because data that has not uploaded still depends on the device and its storage. Live monitoring requires the boat to be online when it is viewed. ## Accounts, price and exports - The free trial lasts 45 days, needs no payment method, and begins when the boat first sends data rather than when the account is created. - After the trial, the subscription is USD 7.99 per month or the approximate equivalent in local currency. - Seasonal Pause stops billing, logging, monitoring and the owner's access until the subscription resumes. Exports should be taken before pausing. - Trips and stays export as CSV. Tracks and moorages export as GPX. - These exports are not a complete account archive. Photos and journal media are not included and should be kept separately. Billing guide: https://saillogger.com/docs/subscription-and-seasonal-pause.md , Export guide: https://saillogger.com/docs/account-and-privacy.md ## Public sharing and safety Public sharing is off for a new account. Turning Sharing on initially enables every shareable page type, so the owner should immediately review the page switches and turn off anything they do not intend to publish. The journal follows the Live Tracking & Monitoring switch, and the Sharing switch also turns AIS Fleet position publishing and the Windy weather station on and off with it. Those two live under Settings > Integrations, because neither publishes a Saillogger page and neither is covered by the password. An access password is separate from the account password. The owner should save a unique passphrase of 12 to 30 characters, reload the settings, and test the public link in a private browser window before sending it. Enabling the requirement without saving an access password does not restrict the page. The public tracking page is not an emergency beacon or a safety check-in service. A stale position cannot confirm a boat's current location or the crew's safety. Geofencing is a supplemental alert, not a substitute for a dedicated anchor alarm. Watching other vessels is a separate product, AIS Fleet by Saillogger, at https://aisfleet.com, which needs no boat, no equipment and no Saillogger account. It is used to watch ships for their own sake, to photograph them, and to follow a friend's boat or a relative's cruise ship. How a person watches a vessel: 1. Open https://aisfleet.com and enter an e-mail address; a six-digit sign-in code arrives by e-mail. There is no password to choose. 2. Search by name, MMSI, call sign or IMO number; a name is enough. The MMSI is the nine-digit number an AIS transponder broadcasts, and searching all nine matches exactly one vessel. 3. Follow it. The vessel joins Favorites, with detected departure and arrival notices enabled. Enabled lists draw their boats within the member's plan, with names where there is room. For an unknown MMSI, "Follow it anyway" on the website keeps it waiting on Favorites and follows it once a receiver reports it; in the iPhone app it only asks AIS Fleet to watch for it. Following 5 vessels, and one active fleet, is free and does not expire. A paid plan increases the vessels a member may follow, lists they can keep, fleets they can use or run, the drawn track's reach (24 hours free, 7 days Plus, 30 days Pro) and the port calls a vessel's panel lists (1 free, 3 Plus, 10 Pro), and lets the member connect an AI assistant to their AIS Fleet account. It runs in any browser with nothing to install, and there is also an optional iPhone app on the App Store. The map is behind that free sign-in: no interactive map, no vessel page and no search by name without an account. The one accountless route is the per-request API in the overview linked below, keyed by MMSI. AIS Fleet draws the AIS traffic that has reached it, not every vessel in the world, and a vessel with no transponder is not there at all; AIS is shore-based radio, so a vessel well offshore is usually not heard until it is back in range, and the last-heard time, not the marker, says how current a position is. A position says nothing about the people aboard, and AIS Fleet is not a navigation, collision avoidance, search and rescue or emergency service. A vessel that keeps her log with Saillogger and shares publicly also brings her journal, her logged track and the owner's photo of the vessel: an addition to the AIS picture, not a requirement. The photo catalog, fleets, messages, prices and the per-request paid API for one vessel position are in https://aisfleet.com/llms.txt A Saillogger boater's boat is on AIS Fleet from the moment a receiver hears her MMSI, with no account or action of theirs, and Friends inside Saillogger already follows other boats (Saillogger boats whose owners chose to share, and vessels broadcasting public AIS positions), subject to AIS coverage. Following is controlled by the owner's sharing switches rather than person by person: for an unwanted follow or safety concern, the owner should first turn off Live Tracking & Monitoring, then change the access password before sharing again. That withdraws the owner's pages, journal and logged track; it does not withdraw the boat's AIS position, which stays public as on any AIS site, so an AIS Fleet follower keeps that position and plain AIS-based departure and arrival e-mails. The separate **AIS Fleet** switch under Settings > Integrations is what stops Saillogger sending the boat's own fixes; her transponder's broadcasts are outside Saillogger either way. info@saillogger.com helps with harassment or safety concerns. People without a Saillogger account have two browser-based options: - For the quickest choice, share the public monitoring link. They open it with no account or sign-in and enter the access password if the owner set one. - For a personal map and departure or arrival notifications, use AIS Fleet by Saillogger at https://aisfleet.com, as above. Both options require Sharing and Live Tracking & Monitoring for the owner's own pages and details. On AIS Fleet those two switches set how much a follower sees rather than whether they may follow at all: a boat that is not publicly viewable is still followable as an ordinary AIS target, showing the broadcast position alone. A password-protected boat shows its journal, logged track and owner photo only to a follower with the current access password, and every follow needs the boat's MMSI to be known to AIS Fleet. AIS Fleet has its own guide, written for the vessel watcher: https://aisfleet.com/docs/llms.txt (whole guide: https://aisfleet.com/docs/all.md). Update the Saillogger plugin and allow the installation to finish. 2. Restart Signal K. 3. Read Status and Last Contact under Settings > Boat. 4. Confirm that the GPS is powered and its position timestamp is current. 5. Check the Collector ID privately and character by character. 6. Copy the exact error, device type, firmware, Signal K version and plugin version before contacting support. Do not advise a boater to remove stored device data or the full Signal K configuration by following old forum instructions. That can remove unuploaded records or unrelated boat settings; support should choose the least disruptive next step for the exact device and version. Troubleshooting guide: https://saillogger.com/docs/troubleshooting.md ## Contact - General questions and hardware experience: https://community.saillogger.com - Account-specific help: info@saillogger.com Saillogger welcomes support requests. A useful report says what the boater sees, what they expected, when it began, and which plugin version and monitoring device appear under Settings > Boat. E-mail addresses, Collector IDs and logs should not be posted in a public forum.
